Cochran Shoals Park - Interstate North (map)
Show up in your Fivefingers, Vivos, RunAmocs, Feelmax, Huaraches, Barefeet, or whatever.
Minimalist Saturdays continues!
This Trail Run will be at the Cochran Shoals / Sope Creek location in the Chattahoochee River National Recreation Area - a scenic place to run right outside the Perimeter - multiple trails. I plan to run 6-8 miles at a leisurely 11 min pace (hopefully).
*Please remember to bring $3 for parking (or annual parking pass)
Directions: From I-285 East:
Take exit 22, Northside Drive, New Northside Drive, Powers Ferry Road.
Go to second traffic light and go left onto New Northside Drive.
Use “through” lane to pick up Interstate North Parkway.
Unit will be .8 miles on the right after crossing the Chattahoochee.
The Cochran/Sope complex is a trail runners' mecca. You can literally run all day in there. Conservatively, there was a hundred people running around the main river-side wide-path. However, only a few people venture out into the Sope Creek Highlands. Surfaces range from medium-to-fine gravel (near the river), rocks (at times jagged), to matted pine needles. Unless you're a hardened barefooter, I'd suggest at least carrying some VFFs. I covered 9 miles. Great time.
